THE SEEDLING
In the quiet dusk where shadows play, where night meets the gentle day. A whisper stirs, so soft and slight, a promise hidden in the night.
Among the earth, so cold and gray, a seedling strives to greet the day. Its tender shoot, a slender thread, emerges from the ground's warm bed.
The flowers bloom, in vibrant hues, their colors bold, their time to choose. Petals whisper tales untold, of strength within, of hearts so bold.
In every garden, wild and free, a testament to what can be. Though seasons change and moments fade, and dreams once bright in shadows wade,
Remember, through the darkest hour, the heart retains its quiet power. So rise with dawn, embrace the light, For even stars are born from night.
In every blossom, see your name, a story of enduring flame.
“Plant seeds of happiness, hope, success, and love; it will all come back to you in abundance.
This is the law of nature.” - Steve Maraboli
Growing things isn’t easy. It’s hard to stay positive when we make a plan and it doesn’t go our way.
How many seeds have we started only to lose them?
How many seedling have we planted that didn’t make it?
How many were lost due to pests, weather, and other acts of nature?
This spring was very cool and it lasted through June, so everything was delayed. Sometimes, I think, its just good to sit and look at these things and let the feelings pass through us instead of trying to avoid them. It may take a minute but I know there is something to be learned. The sun will rise and warm everything.
While some crops might struggle, others thrive, and the cool spring has grown some of the most beautiful Snapdragons I’ve ever seen! They love the cool weather to get established, and when the heat kicks in… they are shining thanks to their strong roots.
The pear crop is coming right along AND I’m happy to report that we are hosting a very healthy beneficial insect population on the farm. We were just out scouting for lacewings when we found that we are loaded with lacewing eggs. This is the result of our gentle approach to pest control. On one of our test sites, our cover crop in the orchard rows is blooming right now and it’s a bee and beneficial insect paradise.
With love,
Yesenia
