About Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead):
On November 2nd, 2024 from 1-8pm, we will be hosting a Day of the Dead celebration on our farm! Share this meaningful family tradition with us; joyfully remembering and celebrating loved ones. We invite you to bring a photo of someone you would like to honor and place it on our community altar. Dressing up is encouraged! … but not required. We’ll also have:
1pm Community Altar Preparation
We invite you to join us to help set up the altar. This year is going to be extra special because we are sharing our family altar with you. Since setting up the altar is part of the process for celebrating the day, we will talk through the steps, the symbolism and traditional elements included in Day of the Dead altars. Please bring a photo of the loved one you would like to honor and something they enjoyed in life (examples: candy bar, beverage, food item). Think of what they would like to enjoy if they could celebrate with you for an evening.
2pm “The Meaning of Day of the Dead” Talk
Learn about the rich history of Dia de Los Muertos and how it has evolved overtime. From it’s roots in Aztec culture, to it’s integration in modern culture, to the important symbolism that is part of this tradition.
2:45pm The Lighting of the Candles
As we light candles together, our loved ones find their way to us for this special evening.
3-7pm Live music by Trayecto Efectivo
We will also have:
Marigold garlands
Pumpkin sugar skull painting

Delicious food, hot cider & Mexican hot chocolate
