Pear Spice & Everything Nice

It seems like everything is going on this week from summer activities to fall preparation. We are busy with winter pear harvest, flower harvest, dried flower wreath making and more. This is definitely the transition week from summer to fall. That’s why the vibe this week is “Pear Spice and Everything Nice!”. I’m not a pumpkin spice latte fan (...don’t hate me!), so it’s pear spice for me please!

The forecast is saying we have an atmospheric river heading our way and my father-in-law said he thinks a frost is around the corner. Ugh! So we’re scrambling to harvest everything as fast as we can. What does this mean for everything? … Glad you asked!

Most importantly… It's sweater weather! Oh yea!

MARKET HIGHLIGHT: The Ramblin’ Bee

Pinecones, pillar candles of all different heights, taper candles, owls, what a variety! These candles are all handmade with 100% Beeswax that not only have the loveliest honey scent, but will also burn brighter and last longer.

I first started researching clean burning candles in my post-partum time. I wanted to have a relaxing ambiance for my baby and I recover and bond. Like a mama bear, I also wanted to make sure I had a clean environment for my little bear. I learned that many candles actually introduce toxins into your home because of the ingredients and wick. I decided to share clean candles in the farm market because this is important to me.

BLOOM & BUZZ PROJECT: Buzz Pollination Explained

Buzz pollination is a technique used by certain bees to vibrate flowers and release pollen. This method is crucial for pollinating crops like tomatoes, peppers, and blueberries. Only a few bee species, like bumblebees, have the ability to buzz pollinate.

Project Update: It’s almost time! We’re nearly one month out from our first big native habitat planting! The area will be about 15,000 square feet! We focus on biodiversity as a pillar o four Regenerative Agriculture practices. I can’t wait to see how this planting makes our farm a sanctuary for beneficial insects and pollinators.

Thank you for helping to plant native pollinator habitats, enhance local biodiversity, and create a thriving ecosystem. 20% of profits from our flower sales are directed to the Bloom & Buzz project. The bees thank you!

EVENTS:

It’s that time ya’ll! We are getting ready for an epic Harvest Fest happening Oct 13th to 15th at the Hood River Event Site. We go all out for this event. This year we will have a big surprise in the Pear Bloom tent. We are also excited to put together the official harvest fest photo booth this year… it will be a work of art!

The Pumpkin Forest opens this weekend! It will have the most beautiful backdrop: the flower field and perfect weather! I hope you have a wonderful week and can’t wait to see you this weekend.

Warmly,

Yesenia
